A significant day for significant people

THANK YOU to all the significant ladies who attended District Days Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3, 2009! The professional programming of The Leadership Institute—Women with Purpose returned for the alumnae and collegiate tracks. The organization was created by the Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity and the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation to provide educational programming for the development and enhancement of leadership skills of women.

This year's District Day featured:

  • Collegiate track: Gut Check Moments. Increase your leadership skills, learn decision-making, understand how to communicate values to others, and identify your own personal "gut-check moments." Required of all collegiate attendees.
  • Alumnae track: Creating a Coaching Culture. Learn the difference between managing and coaching, and explore the benefits of effective coaching.
  • "I am": A series of personal development workshops and how that development relates to Alpha Sigma Alpha.
  • Budgeting and standards workshops.
  • Communication and recognition. Updates from National Council and District 2 leadership. Guiding Star Awards were presented to members who excel in their roles.
  • Mini-emporium with giveaways.
  • Philanthropy. A raffle and other opportunities to help the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation, the S. June Smith Center, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, and more.
  • Networking. Meet other collegians and alumnae during Friday night's activities, during Saturday's luncheon, and throughout the day. Alumnae will also have the opportunity to network (or just catch up with old friends) at a reception for alumnae Saturday evening sponsored by the Foundation.

Special philanthropic project

pink ribbonOur District Days philanthropic project supported Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Members showed their support by buying a pink ribbon; they also got a chance to win a prize! Proceeds went to Susan G. Komen for the Cure's research and prevention efforts. If you missed District Days, you can still contribute online.
