Alpha Sigma Alpha members participated in 2 events in February that raised money for the S. June Smith Center, one of the sorority's national philanthropies.
Central Pennsylvania Alumnae Chapter and Epsilon Kappa Chapter (Millersville University) held a marathon scrapbooking crop on Saturday, February 26, 2011. The event, part of Paula Foreman's challenge to raise $1,965 for the center this year, raised $923.70. Contact Paula Foreman for information on other fundraisers.
The EK and Central PA ladies were out in support of the center again on Sunday, February 27. This time it was Battle of the Banks at Hempfield High School Gymnasium, Landisville, PA. The Central PA Alums (pictured at right) raised money by selling snacks. Epsilon Kappa Chapter was joined by Delta Chi Chapter from Bloomsburg University in helping out with the games. The two collegiate chapters are pictured at left.
Dr. S. June Smith was a lifelong member of Kappa Kappa Chapter at Temple University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. Founded in 1965, the center that bears her name supports children with developmental needs through education, therapeutic services, and family-centered programming.
