| The Epsilon Tau chapter at UMBC recently held two spring fundraisers to net more than
$1300 for Special Olympics and the S. June Smith Center.
Their largest event is “Mr. UMBC”, a competition where male students from various campus groups
compete for a crown. It's a formal affair, with money raised through ticket sales to guests.
This year was their most successful ever, with almost 200 guests bringing in about $1000.
Their second fundraiser was “Fish Pong”, a familiar fair game where participants toss ping-pong balls into
cups of water to win a fish! For $1-$5, participants purchased a number of
chances for a particular type of fish. The game raised $350 to help the national philanthropies.
